RAMPING UP

Willie Mae is 96. Like many seniors who come to us for assistance, she receives a tiny social security check, which often doesn’t cover her monthly expenses. Willie Mae lives in a mobile home not far from one of our social service offices. Lacking transportation, we take her food from the pantry and she receives hot meals on occasion, courtesy of one of our parishes.

Willie Mae’s home has seen better days. The steps going up to the front door were steep and her porch was rickety. Knowing the elderly woman’s mobility issues, our social service minister contacted our Volunteer Program. With the help of one of our wonderful volunteer groups, a wheelchair ramp was installed. Your compassionate giving allows us to make life-changing repairs and modifications, such as Willie Mae’s wheelchair ramp, for the disabled, elderly and those in need. Thank you.
